Cork County Board chairman Ger Lane hopes that new senior football and hurling managers will be appointed in “the next few days”.

At Tuesday’s County Board meeting at the Nemo Rangers complex, Lane informed delegates that the processes to find replacements for former football manager Brian Cuthbert and his hurling counterpart Jimmy Barry-Murphy remained ongoing.

“They’re still being progressed,” he said, “but we’d hope to have something in the next few days.”

One delegate did seek clarity regarding the power of incoming managers to choose their own selectors.

“That is and has been the case,” Lane replied. “I’ve heard the rumours being circulated that it’s not but there’s no truth to them.”
