Newcastle United have reportedly launched a stunning assault on Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.
Despite many forecasting that Newcastle would be major players in the summer transfer window, their spending has been rather modest.
That could all be set to change in the latter stages of the window, with the Magpies now ramping up their attempts to satisfy Eddie How’s transfer desires.
According to the Guardian, the Geordie club submitted a £40m bid in hope of convincing Leicester City to part ways with midfielder James Maddison.
That offer is understood to have been rejected, but Newcastle are expected to increase it and will not give up on their efforts to sign Maddison.
The Englishman was in stunning form towards the backend of last season and Newcastle are evidently confident he can kick-on from there.
Just how much Leicester will demand in exchange for him remains to be seen, but these are nervy days for the Foxes supporters…
