Newcastle United made an approach to try and sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, according to BenchWarmers columnist Fabrizio Romano.

Dembele is out of contract with Barcelona in the summer, so you can hardly blame Newcastle for trying their luck, but it doesn’t look as though they’ve had any sort of success.
Newcastle ought to focus on bringing in Premier League proven players who they feel can help them beat the drop. With Dembele’s patchy injury record, it would’ve been an expensive risk.
