Natalie Sawyer makes BOLD Lionel Messi claim after Argentina win

Lionel Messi helped Argentina over the line to their 10th all-time World Cup quarter-final, scoring the opening goal in his team’s 2-1 win over Australia in a great all-round performance.

The winger continued to prove why he is the best player on the planet, producing some fantastic pieces of skill on the field, with fans up off their seats every time he got the ball.

This morning on Talksport, Natalie Sawyer admitted that she felt she was watching the Messi of old, even with the player having turned 35 in May.

β€œThe performance from Messi was a bit like going back in time. He was doing his clever running and drawing of defenders – there was a point where he drew four defenders and still managed to get past them!

β€œThere were moments where I just thought β€œOh, you’ve taken us back in time there, Messi.” It was amazing to see him just be a nuisance in his Messi way.”

Messi and Argentina will now face the Netherlands on Friday for a spot in the World Cup semi-finals.
