Joao Cancelo looks unlikely to be a part of Pep Guardiola’s squad next season and is currently on loan with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
Bayern have an option to buy the defender for €70m once his loan expires this summer but they have publicly insisted this price is too high.
Arteta, worked with Cancelo at Manchester City with the Spaniard believing he would slot in to the team’s tactical set-up nicely.
In addition to both Arsenal and Bayern, Barcelona are also interested in the 28-year-old according to 90min.
It remains to be seen whether Pep Guardiola would sanction the move to the Gunners, given they have been City’s only title challengers this campaign.
