Arsenal could be without Thomas Partey for some time after the midfielder suffered a seemingly serious injury against Chelsea on Sunday.
Pre-season friendlies are only useful to get minutes in players’ legs. They could for nothing, even if it’s a contest between two rivals like Arsenal and Chelsea.
That’s why Mikel Arteta will be all the more frustrated that all his players have not managed to get through the game unscathed.
With the new Premier League season now just two weeks away, Arteta has seemingly confirmed that Partey could be set to miss Arsenal’s opener, at least.
Arteta on Partey’s injury:

Partey will undergo further examination to determine the extent of the damage, but when something looks bad that soon after occurrence, it usually is.
Arsenal fans will be crossing their fingers that Partey will not miss too much action. They’ll need him if they want to close the gap on their rivals this campaign.
