Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh was some legend. Was such a thrill to sit beside him in the press box in Celtic Park about 15 years ago and watch how he operated. Very sad news. pic.twitter.com/vswjXcS2VF

The best sports broadcaster this country ever produced. RIP Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh. An absolute gentleman. Too many quotes to choose from but one of my favourites is: 'Seán Óg Ó hAilpín: his father's from Fermanagh, his mother's from Fiji, neither of them a hurling stronghold'. pic.twitter.com/nDBprR8sy7

Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh brought our national games into every sitting room in the country. Today Ireland has definitely lost a bit of our history with the great man from county Kerry passing away. We send our condolences to his close family and friends at this time and we will always remember what he did for both hurling and Gaelic football. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam
Will we ever see the likes of him again? Very, very unlikely, he was one in a million and one that did a lot for our national games.
