Man United were once the creme de la creme of the sporting world, producing the kind of success that absolutely nobody could question nor tease, no matter their pedigree.
However, nowadays, with Man United have endured a drastic nosedive in fortunes following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, any average Joe can make them the butt of the joke.
Michael van Gerwen is no average Joe, he’s one of the best darts players on the planet, but you wouldn’t previously have seen him logging onto social media to take the mick out of the Red Devils.
Times be changing, though, and after the Dutchman himself was linked with a move to Man United in a PaddyPower joke tweet, he ruled himself out of the running in style…
