Michael Owen has revealed which player he thinks Dawin Nunez is like after his performance against Real Madrid.
Nunez scored Liverpool’s opening goal this evening with a lovely backheel flick inside the area and despite the Reds going on to lose 5-2 on the night, it was the Uruguayan second goal in as many games and Owen admitted he was impressed with his performance.
“I didn’t think he’d be this raw when he came to Liverpool. With them paying all that money, when I watched him in the Champions League last year with Benfica, I thought he was brilliant and he does things that take your breath away.
“However, I think he is going to have to be coached in order to become a top player. The player I probably liken him to – not in terms of his style of play – but Didier Drogba, when he came over to England everyone laughed at him. His fist touch was poor and he made loads of mistakes.
“I think Nunez can be similar to him and he’s got all the hallmarks of being a top player.”
