A lengthy queue has formed outside the Paris Saint-Germain store this morning, with fans eager to get their ‘Lionel Messi 30’ shirts.

Messi is the biggest name in football, so it’s no surprise that there’s been pandemonium surrounding his arrival in Paris, especially considering how quickly it all developed.

The fans will have hardly had an opportunity to catch their breath, from Messi’s departure from Barcelona being confirmed, to first links with PSG, to the contract being signed – it’s all happened within a week.

Yesterday evening came the formal announcement of Messi’s arrival at the Parc des Princes, with the Argentine set to wear the number 30 shirt, with PSG fans waking up this morning seemingly desperate to show their support for the new arrival.

While the idea of players paying for themselves through shirt sales is ordinarily misguided and a way for fans to justify their clubs’ over-spending, Messi may well be the exception to the rule.

It’s hard to imagine there being a single PSG fan in the land who won’t want to get some sort of Messi-branded memorabilia. PSG will be raking in the cash over the coming weeks and months…
