Conor McGregor quickly deletes ‘congratulatory’ Islam Makhachev tweet after first-round win

Conor McGregor sent out a tweet in response to Islam Makhachev’s round one submission win over Dan Hooker… before immediately deleting it.

McGregor has not shied away from taking aim at any Dagestani fighter in the past, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see that he felt the need to comment on Makhachev’s victory tonight.

Makhachev put Hooker to the sword in predictably straightforward fashion, with the Kiwi fighter not successful in putting up any sort of fight and being submitted in the very first round.

In wake of the fight, which McGregor was clearly tuned into, the Irishman sent out the below tweet.

There is, of course, no actual intention of congratulating Makhachev here, rather McGregor once again making casually xenophobic digs at his culture being incestuous.

It’s no surprise that the former two-weight world champion has decided to delete the tweet. After all, most of the stuff he send out on Twitter ends up deleted soon after.

The fundamental difference between McGregor and Makhachev is that one is doing their talking in the octagon and the other on their timeline…
