Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor close in on $1.5bn agreement – which includes MMA fight

A quite remarkable report by The Sun has claimed that Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather could be set to sign a $1.5bn fight contract.

With the pair having already met in the boxing ring previously, it’s hard, at first glance, to establish how exactly this fight could generate that kind of revenue.

However, as is mentioned in the report by the tabloid, Mayweather is understood to be prepared to step into the octagon to take on his long-time rival.

It’s claimed that the two-fight contract would see them fight both in boxing and MMA, with both fights reflecting on their professional records.

Mayweather has never fought in MMA and would surely stand very little chance against McGregor in that domain. Still, he’s reportedly open to the idea.

He’d also be putting his flawless 50-0 professional boxing record on the line for the first time since his first fight with McGregor several years ago.

It’d be an enormous risk for both of them and their reputation, but we’re talking about $1.5bn here, so it’s pretty easy for them to justify, isn’t it?
