It’s not the counties that you need to be looking at, it’s at a lower level where rural clubs can pay coaches €150/€200/ session and are doing fundraisers around the clock to keep it all going …
They hosted Dublin 2 weeks ago, with a crowd of 15,000. That’s a lot of gate receipts revenue. They are also sponsored by Elverys. Don’t conflate amateur players playing for a professionally run organisation with lots of sponsors and revenue streams.
It’s crazy for an amateur sport.Sure I Met 3 Sligo players coming out of a casino in portlaoise @ 3am Fri night,all smoking Cuban cigars on their way to a strip club.twas mad I wasn’t expecting them to even field V Laois Sat on that evidence, but fair play to them they togged out
Don’t talk shite – ever see AIL Rugby – you’d have 2-3 of them a year and possibly a 2 nighter thrown in for club teams who have 1/10 of a county GAA budget !
As a Former GAA Volunteer I Ask People. Did People expect the Mayo team to travel to Letterkenny on the morning of the game ? I have served as a selector, Manager, Chairman, & Treasurer of my Club & District Board over a number of years. I know all about what is going on in Clubs. It takes alot of money to run a club. It takes alot of fundraising and alot of commitment. You have to be really interested in the welfare of the players and Management Teams. Volunteers do a wonderful job. Give them respect please.
If some of the hacks on social media had there way they would have the players cycling to donegal if a team of players that provided entertainment for 15000 people then im sure those who paid into mchale park would question their entrance fee its just as well out inter county players aren’t relying on key board warriors .
