Mauricio Pochettino edging closer to shock Tottenham return

Posted by

Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham might actually happen, with The Sun reporting that Daniel Levy is edging closer to striking a deal.

Pochettino, who was sacked by Levy just a matter of months after leading Spurs to the Champions League final, was out of work until taking the Paris Saint-Germain job back in January.

The Argentine failed to deliver either Ligue 1 or Champions League glory, but did with the Trophee des Champions and Coupe de France, his first pieces of silverware in his managerial career.

As per The Sun, Pochettino has struggled to settle in Paris, and would be open to returning to Tottenham this summer, something that Levy is thought to be keen on making happen.

The Sun report that Tottenham are edging ever closer to convincing Pochettino to put pen to paper for a second time, succeeding Jose Mourinho as manager, the man who replaced him in November 2019.

While Spurs would need to put together a deal to free Pochettino from his PSG contract, The Sun don’t foresee that being a problem, with Levy’s desire to bring him back trumping all.

This would be a considerable backwards step for Pochettino in his career, leaving a European heavyweight, a Champions League contender, for a club where he was a nearly man, starved of trophies.
