Mason Mount signed and sealed Chelsea’s victory over Crystal Palace with a brilliantly taken Wembley goal.

Chelsea huffed and puffed through the first half of the contest, but were unable to play their best football out on the Wembley turf. A hangover from Madrid, perhaps? Manchester City paid the price for it on Saturday.

Thankfully for the Blues, all due respect to their opponents who have played so commendably in their run to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, they were facing Crystal Palace and not Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Mistakes went unpunished.

After Ruben Loftus-Cheek finally broke Palace’s resolve in the second period, Patrick Vieira’s men, who were punching above their weight, began to capitulate a little. A second goal was only a matter of time, and it came.

Mason Mount scored a goal which took him to 26 g/a for the season, a quite commendable figure which is only likely to rise in the coming weeks. Here’s how he did it – it was a well-taken finish from the England man.
