In an interview with the Sunday Independent Marty Morrissey has opened up about his disappointment of fellow RTE college Joe Brolly calling him Ugly back in 2015. The former Derry footballer compared Cavan’s football as being “as ugly as Marty Morrissey”.
“He said he was sorry, and he didn’t mean it the way it quite came out and I accepted that. I said, ‘We all make mistakes.’ I don’t bear grudges.
“We’re friends now. We’re fine ever since. The last time he texted me was in the summer of 2021. I was in the middle of a TV commentary on a match.
“He was telling me he was down here in Clare with Seamus Clancy from Corofin, who won Clare’s only football All-Star in 1992. I think Joe is a good guy, a very decent guy. What he did to donate that kidney to his pal in Belfast was just fantastic.”
