Negotiations underway: Manchester United forward heading towards exit door

Sevilla are in negotiations to sign Manchester United forward Anthony Martial on loan, according to RMC Sport reporter Loïc Tanzi.

When Man United signed Martial from AS Monaco, they looked to have bagged themselves one of the hottest properties in world football.

Rival fans often draw on the fact that there was a Ballon D’Or clause in the deal that brought the Frenchman to Manchester. Both clubs thought his ceiling was that high.

Unfortunately for Martial (and Man United), he hasn’t hit anything like the heights that were expected of him during his youth. In truth, he has fallen miserably short of expectations.

Now could be the time for him to embark on a new chapter of his career, with RMC Sport reporter Loïc Tanzi reporting that talks are underway with Sevilla to strike a deal ahead of the January window.

According to the journalist, the deal being discussed is an initial loan that would see Martial spend the remainder of the season at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

Irrespective of how Martial performs in La Liga, it’s difficult to imagine him returning to Man United, should he head out initially on a temporary basis.

The player himself, stagnating at 26-years-old, is in dire need of a change of scenery, while Man United no longer have any use for him in the squad.

Martial is an undoubtedly talented player who may well thrive elsewhere with a clean slate, but it’s safe to say that the Man United chapter of his career is drawing to a close.
