Maradona, for all his brilliance, was a troubled individual, with the decisions he made post-retirement having adverse effects on his health, which eventually lead to his death.

All we ought to be discussing, with Maradona no longer with us, is what a brilliant footballer and a great man the world has lost, but as reported by The Sun, there’s more sinister topics to be covered.

The Sun report that Maradona’s trusted lawyer Matias Morla has accused two of the Argentine icon’s daughters of robbing and abandoning him in the years that led up to his death.

Diego Maradona sadly passed away in November of last year.

Morla is quoted by The Sun saying, “he was fighting to the death with Dalma and Gianinna — he felt betrayed and robbed.”

“The girls do not love me since we cut their credit cards in June 2014.  They abandoned Maradona. He died alone.”

Ultimately, it’s a matter of Morla’s word against Maradona’s daughters’, but regardless, the accusations and spite which make up this bitter and public spat are no way to honour his memory.

For the greater good, and out of respect to Maradona, a man which they all loved, all parties ought to keep their mouths shut in the public eye.
