But when asked by The Ring who was the smartest fighter he came up against in his professional career he didn’t hesitate.
He responded: ‘Cotto. It was hard to bait him. He has seen it all. I really had to out-hustle him. He made me work.
He continued by naming his as the heaviest hitter he fought.
He added: ‘I can still feel some of those punches he threw at me. Staying on the ropes is not the best place to be when you are fighting him. He’s also accurate. He’s incredible.’
Pacquiao boxed Cotto in 2009 putting in one of the best performances of his career to score a 12th round stoppage.
