Manchester United midfielder wanted by European powerhouses in SURPRISE transfer rumour

Manchester United midfielder Fred is said to be attracting interest from Paris St-Germain, with the January transfer window almost upon the footballing world.

Joining the Red Devils from Shakhtar Donetsk in June 2018, Fred has made 174 appearances for the Old Trafford side, scoring nine goals.

He struggled to find consistent form in his first few seasons at the club but under Erik ten Hag, has made improvements leading to the French champions chasing his signature.

The rumoured fee for the Brazilian is said to be around £30million, around £17million short of the £47million United paid Shakhtar for his services and with just a year left on his United deal after signing the 12-month extension at the start of the week, he is unlikely to go for any more than the quoted fee.

Ten Hag is believed to be a fan of Fred, hence the contract extension and United aren’t too stacked in the midfield department, with Casemiro and Scott Mctominay the only midfielders playing in a similar role to Fred.

In addition, PSG have a host of midfielders in their team including Marco Veratti, Fabian Ruiz and Renato Sanches, with Julian Draxler, Ander Herrera and Leandro Paredes all out on loan, so their interest in Freed seems somewhat strange.

Nevertheless, when PSG come calling it can be tough to turn them down, so United will do everything they can to ward off the French team’s interest.
