Manchester United set to kick-off summer spend with £40m attacking acquisition

Manchester United are FINALLY closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window.

United are yet to make any ground on their rivals in the transfer window, much to the discontent of their fans. While all rivals, bar recently sanctioned Chelsea, have been active in the market, the Red Devils have not.

Erik ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford ahead of time to get to work and begin bridging the gap between his Man United and the Champions League qualification positions, but he has not been supported by the upper brass.

Until now, perhaps, with The Sun reporting that exciting Ajax and Brazil winger Antony is set to follow in the footsteps of former manager ten Hag and move to Old Trafford – potentially imminently.

The report claims that representatives from Man United have travelled to Amsterdam today in order to complete the transfer. The Dutch giants are understood to be set to receive £40m in exchange for Antony.

You could argue that the last thing Man United need in the early stages of this summer market is attacking reinforcements, but the fans will nevertheless be thankful that ten Hag is being backed.

ten Hag evidently rates Antony highly and believes that he can be a key figure in his revolution at Old Trafford. All they need to do now is get the contract signed and sealed.
