Danny Murphy has slammed Erik ten Hag for his reaction to Christian Eriksenās recent injury.
Manchester United easily dispatched Reading in the FA Cup, winning 3-1 and securing their spot in the next round. But they didnāt walk away from the game unharmed.
Christian Eriksen had to be subbed off the pitch after a brutal challenge from Andy Carroll sent him to the ground. Fans were worried after the game when they saw the Danish midfielder on crutches and as you can imagine, Ten Hag wasnāt pleased.
The Dutch manager slammed Carroll for the tackle and the officials for not immediately sending him off.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Danny Murphy criticised the United manager for constantly āwhinging.ā
āIt sounds like heās just winging, whining. Youāre in the Premier League!ā the former player said.
āAndy Carroll got sent off, by the way, but for a different challenge, he should have got sent off for that one.
āBut the point is, letās give this perspective, we are in a world now where creative attacking players are protected more than ever, more than ever!
āVery rarely do we see bad injuries from bad tackles, very rare, not many, and I think weāre in a good place because of that. Iām not saying we should go back to the old days where players can knock seven bells out of each other.
āI just donāt see why you would come out and winged about it when itās just a consequence of playing football.
āHeās lost Eriksen and heās disappointed and we donāt want to see bad tacklesā¦ but he is winging, because then he starts bringing up the elbow on [Lisandro] Martinez!
āI donāt mind him saying, āIām disappointed with the tackle, it was naughty, Carroll should have been sent off, it was a bad, and Iām disappointed for Eriksen, but itās football, it happens, thatās why we have a big squad and weāve got to get on with it.āā
