Manchester City defender set to spend LONG TIME on the sidelines after World Cup injury

Despite only just returning to action yesterday, Manchester City have already been dealt a huge blow with one of their star defenders set to miss a month of action through injury.

The unlucky player is Ruben Dias, who is believed to have picked up a thigh injury during Portugal’s World Cup Round of 16 victory over Switzerland at the start of the month.

Dias’ injury comes at an unfortunate time, with City playing three games in the next two and a bit weeks and the club facing Chelsea twice and Manchester United in the new year.

Dias has been reliable with his availability for City, the 29-year missing just over a month through injury during his two years at the Etihad.

With Machester City possessing Nathan Ake, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and Manuel Akanji in the centreback positions, you’d expect them to fill in well for the Portuguese, but you can’t deny that the former Benfica man will be a big loss out on the pitch for Pep Guardiola’s side.
