Manchester United fans are convinced that Ruben Amorim has lost the dressing room after the Red Devils were knocked out of the Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday night.

After failing to pick up a win in their opening two Premier League games, many had expected Ruben Amorim’s side to return to form with a convincing win against League Two side Grimsby Town.

The mood among the fans on social media changed within 45 minutes as the visitors trailed by 2-0.

United staged a strong comeback to make it 2-2, but they were finally beaten in the penalty shoot-out as home fans invaded the pitch in delirium.

After the game, Amorim apologised to the fans, admitting that the performance was nowhere near good enough. The Portuguese boss also acknowledged that some of the players were loud in the dressing room.

Manchester United fans on social media are convinced that Amorim has lost the dressing room.

One fan wrote: “If that’s what he actually meant, then I have to wonder what he’s still doing here. He made sure to isolate and get rid of the players he didn’t want, in a very public way. The ones he wants don’t want him?”

A second fan added: “Has this ever been seen at the top level of football before? Actually feel bad for him, he looks completely defeated.”

A third fan wrote: “When your strictness is more than your tactics.”

A fourth fan echoed a similar sentiment: “That’s the culture, if they don’t like the manager they play trash until he gets the sack….rat race…..”

A fifth fan added: “It’s the same Solskjaer. Same with Van Gaal. Same with Mourinho. Same with Rangnick. Same with Ten Hag. He tried his best to turn it around, but he’s another one who failed at it. Always the manager’s fault. 100% of the players who ended 15th will still be here. Shambles.”
