The next round of European football is right around the corner as Champions League and Europa League recommences next week. The knockout stages have already been heavily affected by COVID-19 protocols but new reports today suggest even more changes are ahead.
Football Espana have revealed today that Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad will have their home fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester United disrupted due to new COVID-19 restriction in Spain.
Spain now has a travel plan on arrivals from the UK and exemptions will not be granted to elite sports, even Premier League clubs. These are not the only games that will have a change of venue as Liverpool’s away tie with RB Leipzig will be played in Hungary.
Neither Manchester United nor Chelsea will play their European games in Spain due to travel ban on UK. CFC likely to play Atlético Madrid in Warsaw, United will play Real Sociedad in Juve's Allianz Stadium in Turin, following club's agreement. Confirmation(s) expected today.
