Manchester City suffer MAJOR injury blow ahead of dramatic Premier League title run-in

Manchester City have suffered a MAJOR injury blow – which could prove pivotal in the race for the Premier League title.

The champions prepared for their clash with Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon with the knowledge that a victory would see them climb three points clear of fellow title contenders Liverpool, who drew with Tottenham on Saturday evening.

City put Newcastle to the sword with a convincing 5-0 victory, one which puts them in pole position to retain their Premier League crown, at the expense of Liverpool’s historic bid to win every single piece of silverware on offer.

However, nothing is won yet for City, especially considering they still have to contend with Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham and Aston Villa, none of which are going to make life easy for Pep Guardiola’s men.

To make matters worse, the Daily Mail report that star defender and influential member of the dressing room Ruben Dias has been ruled out for what remains of the season after suffering a hamstring injury.

The report notes that Kyle Walker and John Stones will also miss all three remaining games, which leaves City with somewhat of an injury crisis at the back. Could that give Liverpool the edge in the race for the title?
