Manchester City are reportedly set to address a potentially pivotal contract situation, with one of their key men running down his deal.
City boast one of the most star-studded squads in football at current. The immense strength within their ranks helped them to Premier League and Carabao Cup glory last time, while Pep Guardiola’s men also reached the Champions League final.
One player who was influential in all that they achieved was Riyad Mahrez, whose directness with the ball down the right channel makes him a unique figure in a Man City side that is renowned for being patient and calculated.
However, Mahrez has just 18 months remaining on his contract with the champions, and with the Algerian currently spending plenty of time on the substitutes bench, you wonder whether the end of his City career could be on the horizon.

Apparently not, with The Sun reporting that both Man City and Mahrez himself are keen to continue their relationship, with the club expected to ramp up contract negotiations in due course to ensure he doesn’t walk out the door.
It’d be wise for Man City to get this sorted before the summer transfer window, as having a player of Mahrez’s quality in the final year of his deal runs the risk of having him poached by another of Europe’s elite.
