Harry Maguire’s former teammate Ahmed Elmohamady has SLAMMED the Manchester United skipper.
Maguire has been in the firing line for months as a consequence of his dismal performances for Man United. He continues to retain his place in Ralf Rangnick’s starting XI and scored an own-goal against Tottenham over the weekend.
It seems as though the entirety of the football world can see Maguire’s shortfalls, everyone other than the key decision-makers at Old Trafford. Even a former teammate of his, Ahmed Elmohamady, has turned his back on the defender.
Elmohamady, who played alongside Maguire during his time at Hull City, is quoted by the Daily Mail saying: “Harry was with me in Hull City and, in my opinion, he doesn’t have the level to be the Manchester United captain.”
“Man United need a player with a strong personality and I hope that the next manager will give the captaincy to Ronaldo if he stays. Ronaldo can handle this responsibility and pressure; however, Maguire can’t handle this pressure.”

“So I think that the pressure he has by wearing the captain’s armband is affecting his performances.”
‘Maguire performed really well with Leicester, a team that competes to be in the top six of the Premier League and maybe this is his level. He doesn’t have the level to play for the biggest team in the history of England.”
Those words will sting, considering they’re coming from a player who used to train and play alongside Maguire, but it must be getting to the point where even the Red Devils skipper himself agrees to a certain extent.
Man United have already scuppered their chances of qualifying for the Champions League this campaign. If they want to avoid making the same mistake next year, they need to replace their car crash of a centre-back as a matter of priority.
