Luke Shaw facing possible charge and fine following post match comments

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw could be facing a charge and likely ban from the FA following his comments after United’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea on Sunday report The Sun.

Shaw found himself in hot water when he was quizzed about referee Stuart Attwell’s decision to not overturn his decision to award United a penalty after an apparent Callum Hudson-Odoi handball.

Following the game Shaw claimed that United captain Harry Maguire had been stunned by Attwell’s justification and found himself in trouble when he said: “The ref even said to H, if it’s a pen it’s going to cause a lot of talk after. So I don’t know what happened there.”

FA regulations state that comments made about match officials that ‘imply bias or attack their integrity’ leaves a player open to a misconduct charge under Rule E3 (1).

United tried to backtrack and said that Shaw has simply misheard what Maguire had said but it was too late and the FA have ‘three working days’ to make a decision on the matter.
