Luke Littler reveals why German crowd left him angry

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries will represent England at the World Cup of Darts.

Littler will form a formidable duo alongside Humphries as England aim to clinch their sixth title in 15 years.

The last time Littler played in Germany, he was left angry due to the hostile support he received during his semi-final defeat to rising Dutch talent Gian van Veen at the German Darts Grand Prix.

He expects another similar reaction, but is determined to channel it into World Cup glory.

Littler admitted: “I wouldn’t say it’s upset me but I would say I was obviously a bit angry (at the way I played) and I wouldn’t say it affected me during the Premier League.

“The biggest one was Germany, but I did what Gerwyn Price always does – go on Instagram, have a bit of a moan and take it down half an hour later.

“Obviously for myself, with so many followers on social media, so many people see it before you delete it. It’s never too late to take it down but that is what you do – take it down, refresh and go again.”

His teammate, Humphries, has vowed to protect Littler from any potential backlash from the Frankfurt crowd.

England are the reigning champions, and Humphries did it last time with Michael Smith.

This time, they are likely to face strong competition, with the Netherlands and Belgium fielding big markers.

The Netherlands were simply outstanding. It took Danny Noppert and Gian ven Veen under eight minutes to dismantle Italy.

There will be pressure on these two, but the duo are more than capable of beating anybody on their day.
