Real Madrid v FC Internazionale: Group D - UEFA Champions League

Real Madrid are reportedly working on extending Luka Modric’s contract… but TOTTENHAM are keeping a close eye on developments.

Modric is one of the greatest midfield players in history. Testament to that is the Croatian bucking the trend of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo Ballon D’Or wins.

His performances for Real Madrid over the years have left clubs around the world green in envy, but his time at the Santiago Bernabeu could soon be coming to an end.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Real Madrid are trying to extend Modric’s contract, but there is no guarantee at this point that an agreement will be reached.

Should Los Blancos be unable to agree terms with Modric and his representatives, Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be waiting in the wings to pounce.

It was in North London where Modric established himself as one of the world’s finest midfield players. It would be a fitting end to his time at the top level, were he to go back.

He is now 36-years-old, so it remains to be seen whether he is physically capable of dealing with the pace of the Premier League, even if his world-class passing ability remains.
