The England Womens football team, the Lionesses are in the Euros final and the big event will take place Sunday evening where the Lionesses will take on the Germans in the final of the 2022 European Championship.

There is massive excitement around the whole of England with this and its something that everyone hopes that will be the start of a bring future for all women in sports across the UK.

Ahead of the big match

England legends Kelly Smith and Faye White build their ultimate European Championships XI, featuring some all-time greats alongside current superstars.

With more than 200 caps between them, England legends Kelly Smith and Faye White have faced the best of the best in European football.

The pair selected former German international, and now coach, Nadine Angerer as their choice between the sticks, pointing out that she ‘sticks out as the best’.

For the more traditional back four, they began by selecting current Swedish and Chelsea left back Magdalena Eriksson. The centre half pairing were made up by versatile German Ariane Hingst and former French skipper Wendie Renard. Taking the right back spot was our very own Lucy Bronze who conveniently got herself on the scoresheet in the game against Sweden. “Lucy Bronze has been fantastic for a number of years now…It’s the mindset, it’s the attitude, as well. I want to be the best.”

We can’t wait for this final on Sunday evening and thankful it doesn’t clash with the Charity Shield and it’s a week ahead of the start of the Premier League so this game should get the maximum exposure. We hope we get a great game and the right result for the Womens teams compared to the mens team last summer.

It’s been a great event and summer so far and this is only the start of it. Womens sport has to grow more and be given equal opportunity as the men. I personal think Tennis is a great example of this, the way the mens and Womens co inside with the Womens being on one day and the men the next.

Tennis has been an example of how much of a success the Womens game can be, here’s hoping Womens football is only going to get bigger and better after this. Good luck to the Lionesses on Sunday evening, I’m sure the whole of the UK not just England is going to behind them. These Women have been a great inspiration for the future generations and here’s hoping they can bring football home!
