The reported wages Lionel Messi will be earning upon the completion of his move to Paris Saint-Germain are nothing short of ridiculous.
Messi appears to be closing in on a move to the Parc des Princes, less than 48 hours after it was confirmed that he wouldn’t be renewing his contract with Barcelona.
Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on the situation suggested it’s just a matter of Messi and father Jorge Messi formalising the agreement with PSG.

You could be forgiven for thinking that Messi will be wasting what remains of his best years playing in Ligue 1, but upon further inspection, it’s easy to see why he’s agreed to the move.
According to L’Equipe, Messi will earn €40M-a-year AFTER TAX once he becomes a PSG player. That equates to an eye-watering €769K-a-week.
The numbers are astronomical, ridiculous even, but if there’s any player on the planet who would be worthy of figures like that, it’s the greatest footballer of all-time.
