Lionel Messi is reportedly closing in on a move to MLS outfit Inter Miami.
Messi, who made the difference for Argentina against Mexico on Saturday evening, is out of contract with Paris Saint-Germain at the season’s end.
There has been some suggestion that Messi could return to Barcelona, but it appears as though he sees his future elsewhere – in the United States.
According to the Times, Messi is close to striking a deal with David Beckham’s Inter Miami to move to the MLS when his contract comes to an end.
The report notes that Inter Miami are also eyeing Cesc Fabregas and Luis Suarez, two of Messi’s closest friends in the game, as an added sweetener.
Inter Miami evidently have grand plans. On recent evidence, Messi is far from finished and could well make mincemeat of defenders over the pond.
The prospect of him linking up with Fabregas and Suarez once again is also a mouthwatering one. It’s just a shame they’d all be managed by Phil Neville…
