Lionel Messi is a Barcelona player no more, and El Chiringuito haven’t let us down with their reaction.
In case you’re not familiar with El Chiringuito, it’s a Spanish sports show with a pretty elaborate twist.
They’ve earned much acclaim for their unique reporting on the biggest football stories in Spain, with their reactions often over-dramatised and the production truly second to none.
After it was last night confirmed by Barcelona that Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest player EVER to grace the game, was to be departing, we expected El Chiringuito to deliver.
They haven’t faltered, with a helpful Twitter user even translating what’s being said into English for us.

Even with the English subtitles, it’s difficult to understand exactly what the rather angry fellow is trying to say here. His final line – “what great barbarity” – gives you a pretty good idea.
The Premier League really has no equivalent to El Chiringuito, which is just masterful television. With the new season on the horizon, someone ought to get working on one…
