Leeds owner joins forces with Kim Kardashian to help Afghan female footballers escape Taliban

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani and Kim Kardashian, of all people, have teamed up to help 130 Afghan female footballers escape the Taliban.

There have been grave concerns over the treatment of women in Afghanistan ever since the Taliban seized control of the country earlier in the year.

In wake of the invasion, there was a mass exodus from the country, with most of those fleeing being foreigners who felt it safer to return home than face the Taliban.

However, as is reported by The Sun, 130 Afghan female footballers have also been evacuated over fears that they would receive ill-treatment in their home country.

They have subsequently been resettled in the United Kingdom, with Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani and celeb Kim Kardashian organising and paying for flights to ensure their safe passage from Pakistan.

It’s a commendable contribution from the pair towards a great cause. We hope that the girls are successful in launching prosperous footballing careers in the UK.

We can’t overlook, though, what a bizarre partnership this is. The owner of Leeds… and Kim bloody Kardashian. The world never fails to surprise us…
