Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha made a fatal error during his side’s 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the Europa League.
We all know that football matches, particularly on the European stage, can be determined by the finest of margins.
Players dare not make any mistakes through fear of costing their team and being left with egg on their face.
Unfortunately for Lazio keeper Thomas Strakosha, his best efforts to stay out of the spotlight were ultimately unsuccessful.
As the ball flew high up in the air, Strakosha attempted to catch it while facing his own goal, a pretty bizarre strategy.
Needless to say, it didn’t pay off…
As far as goalkeeper errors go, that’s got to be up there… 🙈😅

Lazio lost 1-0 against Galatasaray to kickoff their Europa League campaign.
The lone goal was an own-goal by Strakosha. 🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/ObxBwq3Vop

Only Strakosha himself would be able to explain what he’s trying to do here, because from the outside looking in, his goalkeeping is utterly nonsensical.
He needed to take charge of that situation by tipping it over the crossbar, or if he were to attempt to catch it, he needs to change his body shape.
We’re hardly goalkeeping experts, but even we wouldn’t have done THAT!
