Chelsea failed to sign centre-back Jules Kounde from Sevilla on transfer Deadline Day – that may well have been a blessing in disguise for the Blues.
As reported by the Guardian, while Chelsea were able to acquire Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal, their pursuit of Kounde proved more complicated.
With Sevilla moving the goalposts late in the window and Chelsea not prepared to be bullied into overpaying, the Frenchman remained with his current employers, for now at least.

Kounde was thought to have been keen on making the move to Stamford Bridge, so may well have been left disappointed with the way things fell through at the eleventh hour.
He decided to take his frustration out on Arsenal left-back Sead Kolasinac during last night’s 1-1 draw between France and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The on-field decision was to give Kounde a yellow card for the offence, but that was upgraded to a red after a VAR review, capping off a pretty torrid week for the player.
Arsenal’s Kolasinac also had to be withdrawn from the field of play after appearing to injure his ankle in the challenge. Let’s hope the damage done is nothing too serious.
