Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool contract situation – and the German can offer no assurances.
Salah is out of contract with Liverpool in the summer of 2023. Considering he’s arguably the best player on the planet right now, you could forgive the club for wanting this sorted at the earliest possible opportunity.
Either the Egyptian signs a new deal and commits himself to Liverpool, or they ought to look to sell him this summer, rather than running the risk of losing a world-class player on a Bosman.
By the sound of things, Liverpool have tried their best to convince Salah to sign a new contract, but they have thus far been unsuccessful in doing so – the ball is very much in the player’s court…
Klopp on Salah’s future: “I think Mo definitely expects this club to be ambitious and we are. It’s Mo’s decision. All fine from my point of view. Nothing has happened further, no signing, no rejection, we just have to wait. Completely fine, no rush.”

Soon after Klopp said those words at his press conference, Salah’s agent took to Twitter to post a rather cryptic message. He evidently found something that the German said rather amusing.

Even the most optimistic Liverpool fan will acknowledge that things are not looking promising. There appears to be a legitimate possibility that Salah could soon walk out the Anfield exit door.
Thankfully, Luis Diaz looks to be an absolute gem, with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota strong options to choose from. That said, Salah is quite simply irreplaceable…
