Kilkenny have their first new manager since 1998 with Derek Lyng set to take over the hot seat from legendary manager Brian Cody. Derek Lyng won six All-Ireland’s in his playing days and managed the Kilkenny under 20’s. It’s big boots for him to fill, but I’m sure with the talent at his disposal in the midlands county, he’s well able for the task at hand.

12 days after Brian Cody stepped down from the role, Derek Lyng takes charge.
His senior playing career with Kilkenny yielded 6 All-Irelands, 9 Leinsters and two All-Stars.
Was senior selector 2014-19 for two All-Ireland wins, manager for U20 All-Ireland win this year.

Kilkenny supporters and the players will be bitterly disappointed that they fell just short to a great Limerick side this year that made it three in a row and four in five years.
It’s all about next year now already and the managers and team are being put in place for when the league starts in January.
