The former Kilkenny hurler Eddie Brennan calls out GAAGO and wants questions answers on why a lot of the hurling matches are being put on the pay per wall service.
It’s a joke in fairness, see his tweet and some of the comments underneath ..
The question that needs to be answered:
Are there individuals benefitting financially from GAAGO when people who built our clubs are faced with paying if they want to watch our national games?
Some openness & transparency would be nice https://t.co/9WxzaF8NXK— Eddie Brennan (@NedzerB13) May 7, 2024
It’s RTE! You can be absolutely certain there’s someone making money on it. They’re as bad, if not worse than the FAI.
RTE and the GAA benefit as they are joint owners. 700k last reported profits from what I can find. Has probably only increased since then. Would assume that they contract out the production to cover the games.
I think all club members should automatically get gaa go subscription for free. Would benefit clubs and money then goes to clubs and you’d definitely get more members in clubs as a result goes back to the grassroots funding wise. But they won’t because of what you said above
If RTE can broadcast the Champions Cup semi final, live from CP ironically, surely our native games should be the same. Drilling down into that GAAgo deal could stir up some can of worms I feel. Is our heritage not worth more than that?
