Kieran Trippier seems to be in a bit of bother as Southgate confirmed today that he has been withdrawn from the England squad ahead of their match against Denmark tomorrow. The 30 year old Atletico defender has to attend a hearing over betting charges. This could not have come at a worse time for him as he made his first England Captain appearance just last week.

The personal FA hearing will be in connection with charges made against Kieran from July in 2019 when he moved to Atletico Madrid from Spurs. He allegedly gave insider information on a whatsapp group which people bet on and made money out of, breaching guidelines. Kieran denies this and did not profit himself from the information.
Atlético’s Kieran Trippier could face a ban if found guilty by the FA 🚫
It would leave Diego Simeone without a fit senior right-back until January 😬

When asked about the Trippier situation, Gareth Southgate had this to say to The Athletic
“There’s not a lot I can say about that really as it’s not something that’s in my control,”
Trippier now faces a possible 6 month ban from all football, leaving Atletico in quite a predicament.
