Rafael dos Anjos claims ‘Khabib agreed’ to potential comeback fight pending Islam Makhachev defeat

Could Khabib Nurmagomedov be set for a dramatic return to the UFC? Rafael dos Anjos has suggested that he could, as is reported by the Daily Mail.

Khabib (29-0) waved goodbye to the sport, while still in the prime of his career, at UFC 254.

The Russian fighter decided to retire three months on from the death of his father, deciding that he could no longer compete without him by his side.

He has remained active in the UFC while not taking to the octagon himself. Khabib is part of Islam Makhachev’s training team, with the 29-year-old expected to go far under the GOAT’s wing.

UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov with lightweight prodigy Islam Makhachev

As is reported by the Daily Mail, Makhachev has been hoping to pencil in a fight with lightweight rival Rafael dos Anjos, but the proposals have continually collapsed.

dos Anjos is thought to have demanded a fight against the retired Khabib, should he defeat prodigy Makhachev, and now claims that an agreement has been reached.

You ought to take it with an almighty pinch of salt, but dos Anjos appears to have convinced himself that he’ll be Khabib’s 30th opponent, should he be able to get past Makhachev in three months.
