Karim Benzema has unfollowed the majority of his France teammates after the Real Madrid star had a falling out with the international setup.

The 2022 Balon d’Or winner picked up an injury just one week before France’s World Cup opening game against Australia. This nightmare scenario denied the striker the opportunity to feature in his first World Cup for France in over eight years.

Benzema received a five-year ban from the international setup after it was revealed that he was involved in a sex tape scandal with France teammate, Mathieu Valbuena.

Even though he was injured, there were rumours that he could return to the France squad for the final against Argentina but he quickly shut these down on Instagram.

According to MARCA, it has now been revealed that Benzema has unfollowed every one of his France teammates bar five. Those lucky few are Kylian Mbappe, Eduardo Camavinga, Raphael Varane, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Marcus Thuram.

His rocky relationship with manager Didier Deschamps is well-publicised but this has taken it to another level.

The 35-year-old announced his retirement from international on Monday, the day after his team lost the final.

“I’ve made the efforts and mistakes that were necessary for me to be where I am today and I’m proud of it! I’ve written my story and ours comes to an end.” Benzema wrote on Instagram.
