Juventus confirm worst news possible after Federico Chiesa suffers nasty-looking injury

Juventus have confirmed that 24-year-old attacker Federico Chiesa will be out for the majority of 2022 after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament.

Chiesa was considered one of the world’s most promising young players before heading to Euro 2020 to compete with Italy. After the tournament’s conclusion, his stock had risen even further.

The former Fiorentina wide-man will have been hoping to kick-on from here and establish himself among the world’s elite, but unfortunately, he’s suffered a major setback in his efforts to achieve that.

Juventus confirmed via a statement on Monday that Chiesa suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during his side’s thrilling victory over Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.

Chiesa has provisionally been ruled out until September, but you imagine it will take even longer for him to be match-fit and ready to return to the action for Juve.

It’s a horrible blow for a wonderful footballer and we can only hope that he is able to return from the injury stronger and ready to take the football world by storm in Qatar.

That is, should Italy be successful in navigating the play-offs and qualifying for the World Cup. Losing Chiesa for those games is, of course, an immeasurable blow for Roberto Mancini’s men.
