When will Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk II take place?

Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk II now looks set to go ahead in the first half of 2022 – but when will the highly-anticipated bout take place?

There was a major question mark over whether we would see Joshua fight Usyk in a bid to regain the titles he lost as the pair met in the ring in September.

There appeared to be a willingness from all parties to facilitate an ‘undisputed’ fight between Usyk and Tyson Fury, with Joshua fighting the winner in the latter stages of the year.

However, after Fury confirmed on Thursday that Dillian Whyte would be his next opponent, that essentially ruled out the possibility of the undisputed fight happening first.

As a result, Joshua will be forced straight into the rematch with Usyk, like it or not, but when could it be held?

Well, according to the Daily Mail, the initial suggestion is that the pair will fight again in early May, potentially on either Saturday 7th or Saturday 14th.

The winner could still go on to fight Tyson Fury, should be triumph over Whyte, in December, meaning we’d still have an undisputed champion crowned in 2022.

A great deal of uncertainty still remains, so we will have to wait and see how things play out. Provisionally, though, you can put Joshua vs Usyk II in your diaries for early summer.
