Josh Warrington suffered a broken jaw during his victory over Kiko Martinez on Saturday evening.
Considering how Warrington’s previous two bouts with Mauricio Lara panned out, it would have been fair to say that he would be finished at world level if he was not to defeat Martinez on Saturday.
However, Warrington stopped the Spanish veteran in the seventh round of their contest in order to win the IBF featherweight title and become a two-time world featherweight champion.
He had to sacrifice his jaw in order to achieve that feat, though. The Leeds-born fighter revealed post-fight that an X-ray of his jaw revealed that he’d suffered a break.

It’s unclear at this point whether he will require surgery or if the jaw will be able to heal on its own, but one thing’s for sure, he’s going to have serious difficulty eating for the foreseeable future!
