Jose Mourinho has slated Luke Shaw’s ‘dramatically bad’ corner-taking during England’s 1-0 victory over the Czech Republic on Tuesday night.
Mourinho worked alongside Shaw during his time at Manchester United, but never really trusted the left-back to play a part in his defence.
The now Roma boss’ insistence on rotating Shaw in and out of the side, all while criticising him publicly, meant United fans weren’t able to see the best of him until after Mourinho’s departure.
Shaw enjoyed a superb campaign for Man United, which earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad to compete at Euro 2020.
The former Southampton man started against the Czech Republic last night, and while he had a good night all told, Mourinho wasn’t impressed with one aspect of his game in particular.

Mourinho told talkSPORT:
“The negative thing I would say is once more they were very poor on attacking corners.”
“The service was dramatically bad. They have so many good players to attack corners. The crosses are not passing the first man.”
“Luke Shaw, in my opinion, very good tonight but very poor on the corner. Phillips, the same.”
“England has great power at this level and going to knockouts, one corner can decide a game.”
Mourinho may well have a point, but his history of publicly slating the full-back will likely make these comments fall upon deaf ears, at least among the Man United faithful.
England struggled to create chances as a collective over the course of their three group games. Shaw should not have to take responsibility for that.
