England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is in the running to take a penalty if the Three Lions’ clash with Germany heads to a shootout, according to the Daily Mail.
Pickford has history when it comes to taking penalties for England. He stepped up to the mark in the Nation’s League third-place playoff, firing past Yann Sommer before saving Josep Drmic’s penalty to win the contest for England.
The Everton goalkeeper is as renowned for his ability with the ball at his feet as he is with it in his hands, an ability which Gareth Southgate may well be set to utilise if England find themselves in a shootout against Germany tomorrow night.
The Daily Mail report that Pickford is very much under consideration to be among the first five penalty takers for England in any potential Euro 2020 shootout.
The report claims that Pickford has impressed during penalty practice in England training since the tournament began, which could earn him spot within the designated five.
While that gives him the opportunity to be the hero for England, he could also follow in the footsteps of his manager and experience penalty shootout heartbreak…
