Jordan Henderson faced the media after his Liverpool side were swept aside 5-2 by Real Madrid on home turf.

The Reds stormed into a two goal lead early on, before Vinicius Jr pulled one back and followed it up by capitalising on a poor Alisson clearance to equalise but Henderson believes his side didn’t deserve go into the half-time break level.

I thought we were unlucky to go in at the break at 2-2. We still played a good first half I thought and I felt we were well on top.

The midfielder then admitted that Liverpool’s second half was nowhere close to what they produced in the first half and said they need to dust themselves down and recover before the second leg.

We can analyse what happened tonight but we have to move on quickly. We’ve got some big Premier League games coming in the next few weeks that we need to focus on and we’ll cross this bridge [second leg] when we come to it.”

The second leg between the pair comes on March 15th, with the Reds facing Crystal Palace, Wolves, Manchester United, and Bournemouth before the crucial return fixture.
